POLICE COURT NEWS.
Messrs. F. C. Claitoj* AND A. M MyKKS, J.P.'s, presided at a sitting of tho Police Court yesterday morning. Drunkenness: Eight first-offenders were convicted and discharged, and another who did not appear was fined ss. John Sutherland, a second-offender, was fined 10s. Mary Hamilton, who appeared before the Court for the fifth time for drunkenness, was convicted, and sentenced to two months' imprisonment with hard/ labour, a charge of vagrancy against her being withdrawn. Remanded: Alfred Graham beaded not guilty to charges of being an idle and disorderly person, without. sufficient lawful means of support, and of having been found smoking opium in a house, occupied by Chinese, in Wakcfield-street. Mr. o'Meagher, who appeared for the defence, asked for a remand until Monday next, and this was granted.
