PRESS COMMENTS.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN - CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Thursday. In its reference to Dr. Campbell, the Post says : —"The honour conferred on Dr. Logan Campbell singles out one of the oldest and most deserving of New Zealand's colonists. Dr. Campbell was one of the most energetic citizens of the rising township of Auckland in its earliest day, and when, on the occasion of the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York, he was called as a veteran to the Mayoral chair, he signalised his munificence by the gift to the city of a valuable park at Onetree Hill. Dr. Campbell owns a beautiful residence overlooking the Waitemata, and his biography is contemporary and intimately connected with the growth of the Northern capital."
