AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET. Chief attention was devoted to investment ' lines on the Stock Exchange yesterday. National Insurances sold at 21s, with further buyers at 20s 9d, sellers 21s 3d. Taupiri Coals were done at 19s 6d, more being offered at same price, buyers 19s. Gisborne .Gas changed hands at 355, with buvers left at 34s 6d. Riverhead Paper Mills had sale at 265, Sellers closing at 6d advance, buyers offering 25s 6d. Union Oils sold at 21s. Bank of New Zealand*? were looked for at 66s 6d, and National Banks had buyers at 83s, no sellers quoting For New Zealand Insurances 78s 6d was offered, sellers firm at 80s. In mining lines Komata Reefs sold at Is sd, Waihi Extended* at Is lid, and Wocdstocks at 3s 6d. Crowns had better demand at 13s, sellers holding for 13s 4d. Waihis were quoted at £6, no buyers being reported. In other lines late prices ruled.

WAIHI SOUTH G.M. CO. The annual meeting of shareholders in the Waihi South Gold Mining Company, called for vesterdav. in the office of the secretary (Mr" C. Wallnutt) lapsed for want of a quorum. In their report the directors stated that the option granted over the propert would expire next month, and unless before that date a sale was effected, work would have to be resumed by the company. During the term of the option (12 months,, the propertv had been under protection, and no further protection would be granted until work has been carried on for a time. The directors had asked the Waihi Grand Junction Company to allow them to employ men in the former company's Waihi West section, to crosscut from the shaft, and explore the ground in order to locate, if possible, the reef. The retiring directors were Messrs. Thonies and Whitehead, who offered themselves for re-election. The bal-ance-sheet showd receipts, £789 10s 9d, and expenditure £361 Is Id, leaving a credit balance of £428 9s Bd, against which was shown £500 deposit on option. WAIHI EXTENDED G.M. CO. The Waihi Extended Gold Mining Company's north-west drive from the shaft is now in 127 ft, and the south-west drive 134 ft. In the former the country is unchanged, whilst in the latter it is now a hard dark andesite rock, similar to that penetrated in the upper level previous to getting the reef formation. . - t THAMES TALISMAN G.M. CO. In the Thames Talisman Gold Mining Company's mine the drive on the reef is in 155 ft from the junction. The break was passed 13ft back, and the reef has not yet. made together again. The country is of an unsettled nature. CHELMSFORD G.M. CO. During the past week the Chelmsford Gold Mining Company's battery has been employed on ore of "rather better grade, which is being broken out from the stopes on No. 1 reef, and from a lode in the hangingwall portion of the same. The battery level is now in 110 ft, and the reef is expected to be to hand shortly. KAPANGA TRIBUTERS. The tributers in the Kapanga mine at Coromandel (Martin and party) have treated 52 tons of ore from the old tiphead for a return of 19oz 14dwt of retorted gold, valued at £54 3s. SOUTHERN MINING.
