Tho Christchurch walker, L. Blood, has announced . his intention to walk 20 miles against time, the course to be fi m Rangiora post office to tho Christchurch Hospital, for a wager of £10, put up by a Christchurch resident. Blood undertakes to cover the distance in under three hours and a-half, and the last half-mile, during which he may be paced by his brother, is to be walked in sm. The attempt is to take place about five weeks hence. The King continues to make a steady round of all the plays now on the London stage that are at all favourably spoken of. A special box was fitted up for him in the pit of the Drury Lane Theatre that he might have a better view of the chariot race in " Ben Hur" than he could obtain from any of the regular boxes or circles. Eggs are very scarce and dear; in fact, cornered. He is fond of pastry, and like a man. he .said, "Try that egg powder, mother used to send me for, when I was a boy." Tucker's.
