AUCKLAND PUBLIC WORKS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l observe that batches of men are being sent from Dunedin to the Otago Central railway to get rid of the unemployed difficulty. What is lacing done in Auckland? if believe there are 300 names in the books of the Labour Bureau. Ah. Seddon, in one of his speeches, stated that £100,000 per month would be spent on Government works, and that after the financial year the Main Trunk line and other lines in the North would be fully manned, and the
works proceeded with.. Nothing seems to have been d-me in this district: 'It » a disgraceful state of affairs that the Pre™" of the country should ho allowed to mate speeches to gull the general public, ana not be brought to fulfil the promises ho has made. 1 am astonished that some oi «« Auckland members have not. taken nit. matter up. To all appearances -Mr. papier seems to have been well pleased with what he and the Government have done in tut Auckland province, but I can assure him he will not Ik; in the same mood after the next general election.l am, etc., Wording Man.
