PARNELL LOAN PROPOSALS REJECTED.

A roi.i. of ratepayers of the Borough of Parnell was taken yesterday at the Oddfellows' Hall, Manukau Road, for the purpose of deciding whether tho Borough Council should be empowered to raise a special loan of £15,000. .Mr. Benjamin Gilmer was returning officer. The proposal was to borrow the sum of £10,000 for the permanent construction of the roadways and footways of the borough, and the sum of £5000 for repairing the existing drainage and completing the extended drainage of the borough. Separate votes were taken on each issue, 81 voting for and 108 against the former proposal, and 81 for and 107 against the latter. Both proposals were therefore rejected.
