I ElectoralEducation Department, > * Wellington, April 22, 1902. Ipi pursuance of Sub-section 5 of Section 5 of the Auckland Grammar School Act, law, His Excellency the Governor has appointed WEDNESDAY. April 30, 1902, to be the day for the Election of a Governor of the School by the Auckland Education Board. W. C. WALKER, Minister for Education. mO THE MEMBERS OF THE AUSTRALIAN X MUTUAL PROVIDENT SOCIETY. Your Directors having decided not to give you the opportunity of saying whether the By-laws should be altered or not, and thereby sti.l retaining the power to spring a surprise on us any clay— which you emphatically repudiated about eighteen months ago by a large majority, I have decided to offer myself ~ > a Candidate to fill one of the vacancies as Director, at the annual meeting, so that you will ho able to say by my election or rejection whether you wish the By-laws revised or not. With many of you, I think the By-law alluded to (36) should bo altered so that the Directors could not spring a second surprise; also that one of the annual rotiring Directors should not be eligible for re-election for twelve months. And further, to alter the rule by which the Directors can 1111 vacancies between one annual meeting and another. The law might bo to leave the seat vacant, or give the position to the candidate having the greatest number of votes after the election of the two Directors at the previous election, till the next annual meeting. That could be done without any expense to the Society, and be moro satisfactory than the present system. Thinking with a considerable number of you that these amendments are required, I give you the opportunity of recording your opinion, as by my election or rejection your Directors will be able to see whether they decided right in saying no amendments in these directions are necessary. Yours faithfully, WILLIAM AFFLECK. Parliament House, N.B.W. Tenders. niTT OP AUCKLAND. TENDERS.
