Honours being easy, the deciding game was started by Brown soaring a single, to which Lennox replied with two. Brown scored two on the next head. Lennox annexed the next three heads with a single on each when Brown equalised matters again with two, the game then being seven heads and five all. From this point Lennox held the game well in hand, scoring on the eighth, tenth, eleventh, twelfth, ami fourteenth heads, which were worth seven points to him, whilst Brown earned one on the ninth and two on the thirteenth heads. When 14- heads had been played the game was: Lennox 12, Brown 8. Lennox gained four more points as the result of the fifteenth, sixteenth, and nineteenth heads, and Brown added five to his score on the seventeenth, eighteenth, and twenty-first "beads, when the scoring-card read: Lennox 16, Brown 13, Lennox thus winning the game and with it the rubber and the match, and -is now the champion single-handed player of the Auckland district. The match was watched by a very interested gathering of bowlers and friends of the contestants, who warmly applauded the good points of the play in a most impartial manner. It was generally admitted that a better exhibition of the drawing game has seldom been seen on the Auckland Green, which is sayingi a great deal. The Mount Eden Club, although its champion (Mr. Brown) has failed in winning the championship, has every reason to be proud of having furnished the runner-up.
