V ' The present number of the Auckland Weekly News, now issued, contains 50 artistic and high-class illustrations. The final scenes at the departure of the Tenth Contingent from Wellington are very fully shown, including views of the farewell luncheon to the troops, the contingent marching on to the Queen's Wharf for embarkation on the troopship Draytoa Grange, the banquet to the Premier, and a number of interesting groups and scenes before and at the departure. Very complete and interesting views of the. picturesque cold lake region of Otago are given, showing Queenstown, Lake : Wakatipu, and a number of other highlyinteresting scenes. A number of special views of deer-shoot-ing on Motutapu Island are also given, showing the sport in various stages from the landing on the beach to the highlysatisfactory stage of transporting the quarry. A series of pictures of the autumn meeting of the Avondale Jockey Club is also given, including a view from the centre of the racecourse of the new grandstand and stewards' stand. Also some of the races in various stages of competition. : ; Volunteer illustrations showing the winning team for the Countess of llanfurly's cup, together with several other views at the firing competition, Penrose rifle range,,, are given. The new reservoir and 'sources' of supply for the Whangarei water supply are depicted. Views of St. Matthew's Church, old and new, are given. The Newcastle (New South Wales) Harbour collision is shown, and these, together ' with miscellaneous groups, views, and portraits, and. the. usual amount of high-class letterpress, go to make up a publication which for general interest stands unequalled in the colonies, and which make it eminently suitable, for sending abroad by the outgoing "Frisco mail. The Weekly News is now issued, and may be obtained from all agents and runners.
