It is expected that at the Conference of • "•'Jj Chambers of Commerce, to be opened in Wellington on Tuesday, delegates will :be ' /J present from Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Napier, Palmerst-on ' North, Masterton, Nelson, Wting&nuij) ' Feilding, Marton, and Westport. Chambers. The subjects for discussion will include the. following: Past, present, and future of : New Zealand railways; metric system of' weights and measures, bank holidays, all* red routes for mails, trade extension, bills of lading, federation of Chambers, week- _ ' & end railway tickets, reduction in London ' • warehouse charges on wool, uniform system of values on exports from New Zealand, pilferage of cargo from London, preferential trade or a Customs Union, recent labour legislation and its effects on the trade of the colony, fire insurance and State '• - ; "- fire insurance, the coal industry, and the African meat contracts. The proceedings ;?, are expected to last about three days. The . delegates will be entertained at dinner by the Wellington Chamber on the 6th pros.
