THE SAN FRANCISCO MAIL.
The mail steamer Sonoma is due from Sydney early this morning, and proceeds on to Pago Pago, Honolulu, and San Francisco at two p.m. The steamer has a large number of . passengers for Auckland and San Francisco, and the number will be considerably added to at this port. The mails by the Sonoma are due in London on March 1.
The mail steamer Ventura, with the English mails which left London on January 4, did not leave San Francisco until tho morning of the 17th inst., fifteen hours late, and is therefore not due at Auckland until Tuesday morning next. It is probable, however, that the Ventura will pick up some of the delayed time on the voyage across,: and if she meets with anything like prompt despatch at Honolulu and Pago Pago, it is not unlikely that she will reach this port on. Monday night.
