AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD.

The Auckland Harbour Board met yesterday. Mr. A. Kidd (chairman) presided, and there were also present: Messrs. M. Niccol, C. C. Dacre, W. J. Napier, W. Gunson, W. J. W. Philson, A. R. Harris, J. T. Julian, and C. Gray. Calliope Dock: Messrs. W. and A. McArthur, Limited, wrote intimating shipment of the balance of sheer-legs material for Calliope Dock, with the exception of the but and cover. Chelsea Wharf: The Colonial Sugar Company, wrote asking use of the grab dredger for two or three days to remove rock near Chelsea Wharf, to give additional depth of water. It was decided to give the dredge, the Sugar Company to pay working expenses. It was agreed that the rock be removed by the Board. • Chamber of Commerce: The secretary of the Chamber of Commerce wrote, asking if any steps had been taken in reference to granting a site for Chamber of Commerce and Hall of Industries. It was agreed to reply that the matter is now under consideration. . Coal Landing: A letter was read from Jas. Smith, asking the Board to construct a small jetty and cad-bin on the west side of the Railway Wharf to the southward of the fish market. He was prepared to lease the coalbin at a fair rental. Referred to the Works and Tariff Committee. . Freeman's Bay Reclamation: The Works and Tariff Committee recommended—ll) That the Auckland Gas Company be informed that as the Auckland City Council has acquired the Freeman's Bay reclamation it will bo necessary that any further application should be made to that body for payment for soil•; deposited; (2) that the necessary steps be taken at the earliest possible date for the transfei of the Freeman's Bay reclamation to the City Council, in terms of conditions already agreed to. A letter was read from the Auckland Gas Company offering to supply material to complete the reclamation at 9d per cubic yard. The first clause of the committee's report was referred back to the committee, and the second clause adopted. Works and Tariff Committee: The Works and Tariff Committee reported: Calliope Dock equipment: That Mr. Metcalfe be requested to report as to the Devonport Borough Council's drainage in relation to Calliope Dock yard. Electric lighting and power That Mr. Goodman's offer bo accepted for a comprehensive report upon electric lighting and power, upon information to be supplied by the engineer to the Board. Depositing silt, 'Shoal Bay: That the subcommittee's report bo adopted, to the effect that the depositing-grouncl for silt in Shoal Bay shall be within a lino shown upon plan submitted herewith, up to high-water mark. Tim report was adopted. Finance and Legal Committee: The Financo and Legal Committee reported as follows:—Allotments on foreshore, Devonport: That leases of allotments on foreshore, Devonport, be not renewed; the Devonport Ferry Company to have temporary occupancy of allotment No. lata rental of £60 per annum for a term not exceeding two years. The report was adopted, with the addition of the following words, "and that the existing tenants bo notified that the Board will allow them at their own cost to remove the buildings before February next, but if not then removed the Board will sell them." Damage to old ferry jetty: That a claim be made against the owners of the p.s. Tongariro for repairs, estimated to cost £80. Damage to Northeote ferry jetty: That claim be made against the owners of the p.s. Tongariro for repairs estimated to cost £13. Okahu Cattle Landing: Mr. Harris asked what had been done with reference to the Okahu cattle landing. The Chairman stated that the matter was really in the hands of the Agricultural Association, and when they were ready the Board would take the matter up.' Rangitoto Channel: The harbour master reported that he had searched on five occasions foi the rock discovered in. Rangitoto Channel by 11.M.5. Penguin, but so far had been unable to find it. Further search would be made.
