TnE ordinary meeting of the Grey Lynn -Borough/ Council, held last night,' was attended by Messrs. Warnock (Mayor), - McMasters Parker, Brinsden, ; Foster, Hall, White and Farrell.

Mr. McMasters said.his endeavours to get the place removed had met with/most; cordial support. He considered it was not only a nuisance, but a menace to health, and he thought the Council should take some steps to help the people in the neighbourhood. Mr. McMasters then moved, "That the Mayor and Messrs. White and the mover wait on Mr. ,Thos. Cotter and take his advice with regard to the possibility of causing the removal of the depot." Mr. Foster seconded. A councillor said it was, only a matter of getting witnesses to i give evidence in Court. Mr. McMasters undertook to. get witnesses who would say> the place was a nuisance. ' One of the councillors asked whether the borough sanitary inspector, was not empowered to deal with* "the matter. The Mayor said their inspector had reported the place /in a first-class state , last week. /His Worship remarked that Dr./ Makgill had in hand a scheme, dealing with the whole question "of the disposal of nightsoil in the city and suburbs. Mr. White considered the motion a step in • the • right direction. The borough was rapidly extending in the direction of the stables and depot, and he did not believe any other borough would allow such.a state of ; things, to exist. The motion ■ was unanimously adopted. , ;. : The Late Mr. Rosser: On the motion of Mr. White the Council agreed to purchase a portrait iof the late :Mr. J.
