CHRISTMAS SERVICES.

AT several of the Presbyterian and Methodist churches yesterday special Christmas services were held. At Knox the Eev. Hush Kelly, M.A., preached upon ".Why Christendom believes Christ to be More than, a Man," and " The Man who was Unhappy at Christmas." The services at St. Lake's were also special. At St. David's the Rev. Gray Dixon, preached two sermons on "The ell or Bethlehem" and " The Star of Bethlehem. At the Beresford-street. Congregational Church the Kev. John .Wilkins preached upon subjects appropriate to the season. ST. PATRICK'S. At St. Patrick's Cathedral, Wyndham-street, yesterday morning His Lordship Bishop Lenihan preached an impressive sermon on the Gospel of the day. The Eev. Father Hill sans Mass, and Haydn's Imperial Mass No. 5 was sung by the full choir. Madame easier sans Gounod's " Ave Maria," with violin obligate. At vespers the Kev. Father Benedict, 0.P., preached on the " Incarnation and Nativity." choosing his text from St. Luke iii. 6. The Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament was pronounced , Sir Michael Costa's offertory, "Date Nobis Sonitum," was sung bv Mr. liupert ilsntell with full choir chorus. Madame easier also sang " Ave Maria." Mr. H. Hiscocks was organist. „ CITY HALL SEE VICE. At this service last evening two addresses were given, the first by Mr. E. -Diraant, from Melbourne, and the i second by the Bev. H. Kelly. Special hymns were rendered by the evangelistic choir, under the baton of Mr. John 8011, assisted by Mr. 11. WrJker (double bass) and the brothers Lester (violin and clarinot). Miss Alice Kimmer sang '"'Angels Ever Bright and Pair" with much sweetness' and power. Miss McGlashau acted as organist. Mr. W. ' Brakenrig presided.
