KAURI GUM MARKET.

The following arc our quotations of kami gum for tho week ending December 16,1301: —White gum: Poor ordinary, £30 and upwards; fair ordinary, £50 and upwards; bold three-quarter scraped, free from nuts, £78 and upwards; East Coast, Brood quality, £72 and upwards; re-scraped, £118 and upwards. Black gum: Nuts, £12 and upwards ; medium, free from sugar £18 and upwards; good, £52 and upwards Remarks on market: Arrivals for 16 clays of December, 320 tons. The small quantity arriving keeps the market strong, but buyers generally look upon prices as being too high when compared with those- to be obtained in England and America.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, is in receipt of the following cable from its London house, dated October 17:—"Wool: The sales closed firmly this day, and quotations are unchanged since our last ca.ble, except for superior greasy, merino and coarse crossbred, the market for these descriptions being firmer.

MCNICOL AND OO.'S OHAUPO SALE. On Tuesday, about 250 head of cattle were varded. Only a few dairy cows were included; grown steers and young stock were fairly represented. The market evidenced a better tone bidding was brisk, with an upward tendency. The following were the quotations — Dairy cows £5; heifers, £3 17s 6d; 3-year steers, in fair condition, £6 to £6 6s; steer calves, 26s to 275; empty heifers, £3 198; IBmonths steers. £2 19s to £3 7s; yearlings, mixed sexes, £2 ss; empty cows, fresh condition, £4 10s; fat steers, from £8 to £3 los; small fat hsifers, £4 Is; fat cows, £5.

NAPIER WOOL SALE. Napier, Wednesday. At the first wool sale of the season, to-day. there was a full attendance of English and local buyers. The clip, generally, was bright, clean, well-grown, and in light condition. The bidding throughout was brisk for fel - mongers' lots. Fleece wool, in sympathy with London rates, was low, and a number of holders preferred to save for the London market. In comparison with last year, prices show a drop of 2d a lb for bright coarse wools. 15d for log-stained and course wool, and about lid for finer wools. Prices were: Fine crossbred and half-bred, 4d to sd; good conditioned crossbred. 3d to 33d; log-stained, 2d to 23d; pieces. t?cl to 3d; bellies, lid to 2_d ; locks, Id to lid.

TEE GRAIN MARKET. DUNEDIN, Wednesday. Wheat: All lots offered are readily taken up. Prime milling. 3s to 3s 2d; medium. 2s lOd to 3s: fowl wheat, 2s 9d to 2s 10(1 for whole, 2s Cd to 2s 7d for broken, sacks in. Oats: Values have unproved fully Id per bushel. Prime milling. 2s 4d tc 2s 4J(1 ; best feed, olid, and, in a few cases. 2s 4d; medium to good, 2s 2d to 2s 3d, sacks extra. Barley : All consignments find ready purchasers at prices in advance of late rates. Prime malting, Lakes. 2s 9d to 3? 3d; good. 2s 6d to 2s lOd; feed, Is lid to 2s Id, sacks extra.

ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. CHIUSTCHUECH. Wednesday. Considers that there will he no sale next week, the entries at Addington were small today, but quite sufficient for requirements. Fat cattle 167, included a fair proportion ot good steers. The market opened at last week's rates, but improved Is to Is 6d per 1001b. Good to prime beef, 22s to 2:>s; other, 17s 6d to 21s; beet, steers, £9 to .£lO 17s bd; others, £7 2s 6d to £8 10s; heifers, £5 15s to £8 15s; cows. £5 15s to £8 17s 6d. Eat sheep (3500) were mostly good sorts, including a lew choice pons for Christmas. Those were m keen demand, Acton Estate, Down, and crossbred wethers making 23s to 30s: and Johns Downs, 235. A line of North Island wethers only landed the previous day. sold at 15s to 165." Freezers only operated moderately, but about 910 were taken for export, at 14s to 15s. Butchers' sorts sold irregularly. Ordinary wethers, 13s to 16s; best ewes, 13s to 15s 6d; ordinary, 93 to 12s; inferior, 4s lOd; eight verv prime merino wethers, 17s Gd; ordinary, 8s 2d to 10s. Fat lambs (2000), were mostly of good quality, and there was good sale. About half were taken for export at 12s Id to 14s lOd. the majority making 13s 6d to 14s. The balance went to the butchers, at 10s 6d to 13s for secondary, up to 15s 5d lotprime. Store sheep (1520) were mostly ewes with lambs, which sold better owing to late rains, which are improving feed prospects. Ewes with lambs, 8s 2d to lis 6d. and aged ewes with lambs, 6s 6d to 30s, all counted; hoggets, lis Bd. Pigs, numbered 500. Fat maintained late rates; baconers, 34s to 49s (3£d); porkers, 23a to 30s 6d (3>d to 3M); stores, rather larger sorts, 14s to 20s; suckers and woaners, 5s to 9s. • AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE.
