Tin; Northern Company's steamer Clansman was floated into the Auckland Dock on Saturday morning for cleaning and painting. She comes out again this morning, and leaves for the North in the evening. On Saturday the Northern Company's steamer Glenelg arrived from Wliangarei. and leaves for the same place again to-night. The Tyser liner Indraghii-i left, on Saturday afternoon for Gißborue and the South. On Saturday the Northern Company's steamer Waiotalii arrived from Opotiki and Tauranga. and leaves for the same places again to-morrow. The Union Company's steamer Monra left on Saturday afternoon for East Coast and Southern ports. Yesterday morning the Northern Company's steamer Waitangi arrived from Tanran tea, aild leaves at 9 o'clock to-night for Tairua. THE VENTURA. The mail steamer Ventura is due from Sail Francisco, Honolulu, and Pago Pago to-day, and proceeds on to Sydney a few boars after arrival.

THE WAIKARE. The Union Company's steamer Waikare is due from Sydney this morning, and leaves for Ea-st Coast and Southern ports. Hobart and Melbourne, to-morrow afternoon. TUB SONOMA. . „ . The mail Steamer Sonoma. Captain K. Van Oterendorp, arrived from Sydney early on Saturday morning, and after inspection by Dr. F. W. Sharman, the port health oflicor, berthed at the Queen-street Wharf, where the mails and passengers were at once disembarked, and the work of taking in outward cargo proceeded with. Mr. G. A. Hodson, the purser, reports: The Sonoma left Sydney at 1.30 p.m. on Tuesday last; passed Cape Maria Van Diemen at 3.50 p.m. on Friday, and arrived at 4.35 a.m. on Saturday. A moderate northerly gale and rough sea prevailed until Wednesday morning, followed by strong southerly wind and sea to the North Cape. The Sonoma resumed her voyage to Pago Pago, Honolulu, and San Francisco at 3.15 p.m. on Saturday,

THE MARAROA. The Union Company's steamer Mararoa. Captain R. E. Smith, arrived from Southern and East Coast ports yesterday morning, berthing at Quay-street Jett.> No. 2. The purser reports that the steamer left .Dnnedin at 3 p.m. on the 26th ult., and called at Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, and Gisborne, leaving the latter port at 11 a.m. on the 30th, and arrived at Auckland at 9 a.m. yesterday. Exprienced strong N.E. winds, with moderate seas, to Napier; thence fine weather to arrival. The Mararoa proceeds on to Sydney at 5.30 p.m. to-day.

TITO A.—HEAVY 'WEATHER. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's steamer Matatua arrived from London direct on Saturday morning, anchoring in the stream for inspection by Dr. F. W. Sharman. the port health officer, and the Customs authorities, who granted pratique. The steamer, which conies into port in very neat order in all departments, is still under the command of Captain W. Burvill Holmes, R.N.R., the other deck officers Ileitis: Chief, Mr. R. 0. Griffiths. R.N.R,; second, Mr. .R. G. Cross; third, Mr. R. Lellist; fourth. Mr. H. Williams. ;.n\ E. Just is in charge of the engine department, and has with him Messrs. Dnnlop. Butcher, and Shearman, the refrigerating engineers being Messrs. Hutchison and Jennings. Mr. C. J. Hobden is steward-in-chargo. Of tlio voyage the chief officer reports: The Matatua left Gravesend on October 2, and had fine weather down the Channel till in the Bay of Biscay, when a heavy N.E. gale arose, creating a heavy sea, which broke continually on the decks. Fine weather and moderate winds were then encountered, and Teneriffe reached on October 10, .where the vessel coaled. She resumed her voyage the same day, meeting the usnal kind of weather, arriving off Cape of Good Hope on October 30. She then altered her course to the eastward, having strong and moderate winds till off Tasmania, where a heavy westerly gale was encountered, the heavy se-. causing the ship to labour heavily and ship heavy weater. The weather moderated after 21 hours, and moderate winds and fine weather were met with till half-way across the Tasman Sea. when another heavy gale from the northward was encountered which lasted for three days, during which time the steering-gear carried away, and heavy seas broke over the vessel. Captain Holmes had the ship under command again in a very short time, and further damage was avoided. Cape Maria Van Diemen was reached at noon on Friday, and fresh winds were experienced down the coast, the vessel drooping anchor in the Stream at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The steamer berthed at the Queen-street Wharf oh Saturday afternoon, and will commence discharging her cargo of general merchandise, which consists of 3000 tons, this morning. Messrs. T. and S. Morrin, Limited, are the local agents for the steamer.
