SUICIDES.
The body of T. J. Stott, printer, was found hanging in a cellar at Hallenstein's building, Esk-street, Invercargill, on Thursday, the 21st of November. Stott, who worked on the top flat, had been complaining of his head for some days, and was last seen alive in the office about live o'clock the previous evening. He vas a man of strong temperance and religious convictions, and his demeanour ill the debating society of the church he attended had frequently been remarked on as decidedly peculiar. He had used a strap to strangle himself, and his feeb were squarely on the floor. The wife of James Dawson, a member if Dunedin Permanent Artillery committed suicide by- hanging herself some time on Nov. 22. She had been an inmate of SeaclifT Asylum for some time, but was let out greatly improved. The body of a man between 40 and 50 years of age was found on Nov. 23 in Tuanarina Creek. It had been in the water ! ibout three' uays. The case is evidently ; one of suicide, the right hand being tied to the right leg with flax, 'ine man, who 's a stranger to the district, was wearing '.Othes bearing the brand of the Wellingon Lunatic Asylum, and marked with the lame Irving. At the inquest a verdict of suicide whilst temporarily insane was returned. An elderly man named Isaac Wilson was Tound hanging to a tree at Kaiapoi on November 9. He was quite dead. At the inquest a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane was returned. Deceased's brother committed suicide a few weeks before.
