News have much pleasure in annouiyin* their second photographic prize competiJon which will be open until November 30 txi Encouraged by the success of their foiier competition they have decided to increasjthe amount of the first prize in each class. li e following are the various classes andit£ B amounts of prizes offered: — i 1. A New Zealand land or sea scape, jw prize, £3; second prize, £1. * ' j 2. New Zealand figure study (Eiirotean or Maori). First prize, £3: second ri&» £1. SA* 3. Farm, station, or bush settlement sot. First prize, £5; second prize. £1. j 4. Industrial view (illustrating niifc' gumdigging, timber, flax, etc.). Firs:. pfi» £5; second prize. £1. i "■ 5. Sporting, hunting, racing, yschinr or boating view. First prize, £3; second prize, £1.
6. A New Zealand comic studj. JiW prize, £2. No photograph previously publiaed win be allowed to compete. The negatives must in all cases be tie work of the competitor. Competitors should remember tha small views, although allowed to compete, re not so suitable for reproduction a* larger oes In awarding the prizes the suit£>ilitv of the photograph for reproduction wl\ b* e taken into consideration. Bromide pint, are not so suitable for reproduction as twse on the ordinary p.o.p. paper. The Proprietors will have the right toreproduce any photographs sent in for cormetition. • Good typical pictures of general inteEst are preferable to those of merely local interest In sending in photographs prints should be sent flat, if possible. Particulars should be written on the back of the print in pencil without in any way damaging it. All photographs must be addressed to the' Competition Editor" of the Auckland V«:ekit News, and the class for which it is eitered should be clearly marked both on tht back of the photograph as well as on the oatside of the packet.
