ANOTHER ST. SIMON Sb.E FOP. AUCKLAND. \

Auckland is shortly to receive- aiuhei valuable addition to her list of ihOpghbred sires. Since the death of Fitsimmons Messrs. L. D. and N. A. Nathan h\ been endeavouring to secure another sir6 0 f the celebrated St. Simon lino for Sylvia/park, and yesterday Mr. Alfred 2Vthan received a cablegram from London t the effect that negotiations had been comr c ted for the purchase of San Francisco. from"M r . Leopold de Rothschild. San Francisco a full brother to tha Two Thousiid Guineas -winner, St. Fnisquin, being &t by St. Simon from Isabel, by Plebeian fro>\ Parma, by Parmesan. San Francisco, who is rising four years old, won a good race at Newmarket as a two-year-old. scoring in the Plantation Stakes, which event was run over the Bunbury mile, and in which he defeated a field of sixteen. Claiming full 'brothership to St. Frusquin is a high credential for San Francisco, for at three years old the former demonstrated beyond a doubt that he was in the first class. He won the Two Thousand Guineas, and, though ho had to strike his colours to Persimmon in the Derby, he subsequently wiped out that defeat by clipping the latter's wings in the Princess of Wales' Stakes; and when ho retired from the turf his earnings in stakes was well on to £30,000. What is, howover, more important as bearing upon the prospects of San Francisco as a sire is that his brother's stock have all been running well, and when half the present season was over they had won over £10,000 in stakes. San Francisco is a bay horse, with black points, standing wel' on to 16 hands, and is stated to be a very fine stamp of tho thoroughbred horse. The Messrs. Nathan are to be congratulated on securing such a valuable addition to their stud, and the introduction of such a high-class sire to Auckland can hardly fail to have a beneficial result. San Francisco is to be shipped to Auckland by one of the direct liners. AUCKLAND RACING CLUB'S SUMMER MEETING. Mr. Evett's adjustments for tho Auckland Cup, Railway Handicap, and Auckland Steeplechase havo been most favourably received, and on pretty well all hands the handicapper is given credit for an excellent pieco of work. In the Cup Bluejacket (9st 81b), Nonetto (Bst), Ideal (7st 131b), and San Remo (7sfc 41b) are tho ones that are most popularly looked upon as likely winners of the two-mile race, but the issue is regarded as very open. In the Railway Handicap Rosella (9st 51b), Royal Artillery (9st 41b), Cruciform (9st), Glenogle (Bst 111b), and Scotty (7st 31b) are voted nicely in. For the Steeplechase Cannongate (12st 91b), Cavaliero (12st 81b), Gobo (list 71b), and Huku (lOst lib) are voted a dangerous quartette. Val Rosa was yesterday struck out of the Auckland Cup and Railway Handicap. Palaver and Cure have been scratched for all engagements. The declaration of the weights for the leading events of the A.R.C. Summer Meeting has livened up matters in the local betting market. Nonette was strongly backed for the Auckland Cup yesterday, about £800 being accepted about him at 6 and 7to 1. Bluejacket was supported at 100 to 12. For the double, Cup and Railway Handicap, Nonetto and Royal Artillery were, backed to win £500 at 100 to 4, and Bluejacket and Cannongate were supported for a like amount for the Cup and Steeplechase at 100 to 5. Nonette and Bluejacket may be quoted equal favourites for the Cup at sto 1; Coronet is quoted at 8 to 1, Tortulla 10 to 1, and San Remo 12 to 1. OTAHUHU TROTTING CLUB'S SPRING . MEETING.
