MISCELLANEOUS PICTURES. The varied and attractive character of the Auckland Weekly News is strikingly manifested in this week's issue. The number contains nearly 70 large and handsome, illustrations, all of which depict scenes and events of great interest. The earthquake which recently shook the northern part of Canterbury, and caused' such devastation at Cheviot and other places, is illustrated not only by photographs but by sketches from our special artist. The Manawatu, or Palmerston North show, the greatest agricultural gathering in the North Island, and one of the most important in New Zealand, is thoroughly illustrated by photographs from the Weekly News special photographer, who has presented the essential features of the show in a. most complete manner. The volunteer encampment on the Auckland Domain is well depicted, and the Auckland Horticultural Show recently held in the Choral Hall provides a number of attractive pictures. Among the miscellaneous illustrations are included scenes of the great fire in Dannevirke, the new public school at Onehunga, the new Oruru dairy factory, a series of beautiful seascapes on the West Coast of Auckland, and other interesting subjects. There are a number of groups and portraits, among which are the English cricket team now touring Australia, members of the Auckland Agricultural Conference, Hawke's Bay bowlers, New Plymouth tennis players, the Ngaruawahia Ladies' Rowing Club, dairy experts at New Plymouth, and members of the St. Sepulchre's Gymnasium Club. The Weekly News is now on sale, and can bo obtained from all agents and runners.
