Captain A. T. Mahan's next book will be entitled " Types of Naval Officers ; With Some Remarks on the Development of Naval Warfare During the Eighteenth Century." The officers referred to are six in number Hawke, Rodney, Howe, St. Vincent, iSuumarez, and Exn.outh.

Messrs. Chapman and Hall's new edition of Richardson will be ready for delivery by October 1. " Pamela" will occupy four volumes ; " Clarissa" nine ; and " Sir Charles Grandison" seven ; making 20 volumes in all. The series will be illustrated with reproductions of engravings by Stothard and others.
