THE CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR UNION.
The Christian Endeavour Union, now holding its annual convention in this city, is one of many hundreds of similar unions existing throughout Christendom. The organisation was founded over twenty years ago by Dr. F. Clark, in Willesden. Eastern America, It is essentially a religious institution, the outcome of a spiritual awakening among the young people of the congregation to which the founder ministered. Its object is to create a sphere of activity for all its members within which each may find a suitable moral and social employment for their varied gifts. It affords means for meeting together regularly in religious fellowship, and by means of sunshine, flower and other committees the sick are visited, the poor are relieved, and the aged and infirm in our public institutions, such as the Costley Home, hospitals etc are visited and entertained. Amongst its ranks are found many zealo°us mends of the mission cause. Several missionaries in the Islands are supported solely by contributions from Endeavourers, and during the last three years about 40 of the young people have themselves gone forth into the mission fields. In Auckland regular meetings are held among the Chinese in the YM.C.A. and the Tabernacle under the auspices of the union The spirit of Christian union, which is such a characteristic of the present age has been greatly developed and fostered by the frequent comings to getter of the different societies in a lies ' devotional services and annual gatherings. The movement has had a phenomenal growth. Beginning with about fifty members it now numbers some five millions. If its course be wisely directed in the £ ture it may be a means of incalcul able benefit to the community.
