MANCHESTER UNITY ODDFELLOWS.

HALF-YEARLY MEETING. The half-yearly moeting of the Manchester Unity Independent Order Oddfellows, Auckland District, was held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Cook-street, yesterday. P.G-.M. F. J. Wheatley presided. -There were also present: P.D.G.M. Brother A. Katz, Prov. C.S. .T. McLeod, and District Warden C. Tyke. The following deputies wore present:—Fountain of Friendship: P.P.G.M. S. H. Matthews, P.P.G.M. E. Leydon, P.G.'s F. S. Shepherd and C. Westfahl, and Per. Sec. ,O. S. Wright. Good Intent: P.P.G.M. C. Huge, P.P.G.M. A. H. J. Ryder, P.G.'s C. Allen and E. Edwards. Parnell Lodge P.P.G.M. John McConnoll, . and P.G. W. Thomas. Charles Bruce Lodge: P.G. E. Kneebono and Por. S. Frod Shaw. Wnikato Lodge: P.G.'s T. Aitken, H. B. Simmonds, and A. Burns. Duke of Cambridge : P.P.G.M. S. Fletcher. Gisborno Lodge: G.M. S. 11. McG. Quigley, V.G. H. Humphreys. _ Hauraki Lodge: P.G. W. McMillan. Whangarei Lodge: Brother J. Eccles. Warkworth Pioneer Lodge: P.G. G. S. Sankey. Hokianga Lodge: P.G. Wm. G. linnagan. Karangahake: P.S. Brother J. Frear. John Leydon Lodge: P.G. G. Morgan, G.M. R. Lewis, and N.G. D. Andrews. Waitekari and Golden Cross: P.G. W. Simmonds, V.G. P. Grace. Waipu Lodge: P.G. N. E. McMillan. Mangonui Lodge: N.G. G. Frear. Hot Springs Lodge: P.S. W. Mclnman. Howick Lodge: P.P.G.M. S. H. White. Jubilee Lodge: P.G. J. E. Hunt. Manukau Lodge: P.G. Rishworth. Franklin Lodge: P.G. J. Kyle. P.S. Brother W. Simmonds was appointed reporter for the meeting. Correspondence was received from the Grand. Master and Board of Directors, stating that a lodee trustee could hold any office in the lodgo other than trustee or secretary. An application from the Waihi Hospital Committee for assistance was ruled out of order by Prov. G.M. F. J. Wheatley. Resolved: That the balance-sheet and trustees' statement be adopted." It was also resolved that the auditors' report be adopted. Accounts' amounting to £140 15s Id were passed for payment. It was decided that the levy for management be left to the discretion of the Management Committee. s

P.P.G.M. Rugo moved the adoption of the recommendations of the Committee of Management, P.G. Bro. Allen supporting. The discussion was interrupted by the tea adjournment. After the tea adjournment the notice of motion re the district trustees from the Waitekauri and Golden Cross Lodge was considered. P.S. Brother W. Simmonds moved and Y.G. Brother Grace seconded the motion. Considerable debate followed, and eventually the motion was lost. ' The report of the Committee of Management re trustees' commission was, on the motion of P.G. Thomas, seconded by P.G. Aitken, referred to the district officers to get a legal opinion thereon. The balance of recommendations from this committee were finally adopted. The Prov. C.S., Brother J. McLeod, submitted a lengthy report re establishment of a movable committee and board of directors for New Zealand. It was decided that the thanks of this district be accorded to P.P.G.M. J. McLeod for his action when at Wellington. P.G. Thomas suggested that the district officers and Management Committee formulate suggestions for consideration at the A.M.C. *■ The following nominations for 1902-1903 were | received For Provincial Grand Master, P.D.G.M. Katz .'and P.G. Thomas; for Provincial Deputy-Grand Master, Brothers P.G. Westfahl, R.S. Shaw, P.G. Solomon, P.G. Rishworth, P.G.-Thomas, and P.G. Turner; for provincial corresponding secretary, P.P.G.M. J. McLeod; for Warden, P.G.C.G. Tyke. P.G.M. Brother F. J. Wheatley then presented P.P.G.M. S. H. Matthews with a magnificent jewel as a slight recognition for services rendered as district trustee, Brother Matthews having completed 20 years' service. Brother Matthews suitably and feelingly responded for the handsome present, and assured the deputies that he trusted he would still continue to merit their support and confidence. ■ A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Per. Sec. Brother W. Simmonds for acting as reporter during the meeting.
