Tho monthly inspection of the Onehunga Rifles took place on Tuesday last, Captain Molntosh in command. The corps was inspected by Captain-Adjutant Reid. Ser-geant-Major Hoare was also present, and hifltructod tho men in the use of the new LeeEnfield rifles. After parade a special meeting was held for the purpose of electing a subaltern. Mr. Ales. Scott Mason, a gentle- • .nan recently irom Scotland, was unanimously clected to the position. The Onohunga Musical Society will perforin F. H. Cowen's "Rose Maiden," nt their third concert of the season, which takes place to-night. Tho soloists are Madam , Chambers, Miss Mary Laing, Mr. William Aspinall, and Mr. William Asley. The Rev..
