AUCKLAND. MESSRS. ALFRED AUCKLAND AND .SONS' . KEPOBT. ' • Horses: On Friday last, at the Haymarket, we had an average entry and good attendance of buyers, with a demand at fully late values for all useful working horses. The ordinary run of common and aged sorts were lower in price, and but few of this class changed hands. Coach, cab, or 'bus horses sold freely at £12 to £1S each; spring cart horses, up to a ton, £20 to £27; medium to heavy draughts, £28 to £37 each. The Thorn roadster, horse, and harness sold under the hammer at £16 the trap, £7 15s, the horse, and £3 2s 6d the harness. The hooded buggy and harness was passed in, but the horse was sold at £15 10s. Hay and Straw: On both Friday and Tuesday there was a fair supply: prices firm. Meadow hay, at auction, 2s 3d to 3s cwt; straw, 18s to 24s the load, delivered. Farm at Pukekohe: On Tuesday last we sold the properly known as Puriri Park, containing 117 acres, for £10 10s per acre. The stock, implements, etc., will ,be sold on the farm at an early date. Hides, Skins, Tallow, etc.: On Tuesday we cleared our usual quantity in these lines. Quality was even and good throughout, and competition brisk, prices a* shade better. Ox hides, mostly ranging from 4Jd to 6d; lighter, 4d: cow, 3id to 4id; calf, 4d to 4Jd per lb; tails, Is lOd doz; rough fat, ljd and lid lb: tallow, ordinary mixed, 17s to 19s; bones, 5s cwt. Skins: For best butcher's, 2s to 2s 6d, the greater number selling at Is 9cl to 2s each. Grain, Etc.: All foodstuffs firm, with an advance in oats and bran. ' Wo quote:—Feed oats. 2s 4d to 2s 5Jd; maize, 2s 7d to 2s 8d: wheat, 2s lOd to 2s lid; barley. 2s 3d; chaff, £3 to £3 ss: inferior, £2 to £2 10s; carrots, 255; bran. £4 15s; sharps, £5; pressed hay, .£3 5s to £3 10s; pressed straw, £2 15s: Sydney bonedust. £6 15s to £7 ss; Chesterfield guano, £3 15s; blood and bone mar/are, £5 ss. Consequent on the rough weather there was a small muster at Tuakau on Wednesday, and consisted mostly of dairy cows, which sold freely, bringing from £5 to £7 12s 6d each ; strong calves, up to 355, no grown stores yarded There was scarcely am average muster of stock at Remuera on Thursday, and with the exception of fill calves prices ruled about the same. Dairy cows ranged in price from £5 10s to £%. Few store cattle yarded, those sold at late values. Fat and young calves, in short supply, advanced iu ' price ;f, freshdropped brought from 5s to 8s; medium, 12s to 15s ; well fatted, £1 to 35s each; no heavy weights yarded (40 sold). There was no alteration in the price of beef, steers bringing from 19s to 22s the 1001b ; aged cows, 16s to ISs ; steers ranged in price from £6 10s to £11 ; cows. £4 to £7 10s (183 sold). The sheep vardo.i were of good quality, and prices were firm throughout. Wethers ranged in price from 17s to 21s for heavy weights; lighter sorts, lis to 16s ; ewes. 10s 3d to 17? 6d (1000 sold). Porkers brought from 18s to 30s; small, 5s 6d to 9s 6d ; good stores, 15s to 25s ; heavy, up to £1 17s (50 sold). NEW ZEALAND LOAN AND MERCANTILB AGENCY COMPANY (LIMITED).. Auckland Wool Stores, July 24. Horses: On Friday, at the Durham Yards, a good many were brought forward and disposed of. Heavy drauglits brought from £24 lbs to £33 17s 6d; medium draughts, £18 17s 6d to £32 12s 6d; light harness draughts, £8 12s 6d to £16 las; hacks, £4 5s to £16 15s; weeds, £1 to £2 15s. The heavy draught stallion Federation was sold through us privately at a satisfactory figure. Cattle: At the Newmarket Yards, on Tuesday, fat stock were penned in moderate numbers, the quality throughout being good. The greater number were dehorned or halfbred Polled Angus. Prices showed no improvement, steers selling at from 19s to £1 2s per 1001b; cows, 17s to £1. Oxen made from £6 10s to £9 17s 6d; cows, £4 2s 6d to .£7 ss. Dairy cows were yarded in less numbers than usual, and sold at from £4 5s to £8 17s 6d; empty cows, £2 17s 6d to £4. Sheep: The Newmarket Yards were fairly well filled on Tuesday. Wethers sold, at from lis Od to 13s 3d; ewes, 10s 6d to 15s 9d; hoggets, Gs to lis 9tl.- ' ... v Pigs: Yarded in full numbers. Porkers sold at from £1 Is to £2; woauers, 5s 6d to lis. -• . . ..7

At Waiuku, on Saturday, for .the season of the year there was a large muster. Dairy cows sold at from £5 5s to £9 7s 6d; grown steers, £6 Is to £7; two to three-year-old steers, £3 23 6tl to £6; dry cows, £2 18s to £4 Is; calves, £1 8s to £2 2s ; beef at Newmarket rates.

Hides, Skins, Tallow, etc.: At our weekly sale on Tuesday the catalogue was well competed for, and all line 3 cleared at satisfactory ; prices. Sales were made as follows: — Hides: Prime stout ox, 6d to 6Jd; stout, sid to s]d: light' and medium, 4Jd to sd; stags, 2id to 2sd; cow in special request at from 4d to 4gd; kip, 3id to 4Jd; calf, sound, 4d to s;td; scored and sloppy of all lines, id to id per lb less. Sheepskins: In better demand. Large, 2s to 2s 8d; small and medium. Is 4d to Is 9d; dry, 3d to 6d less. ■ Tallow: Mutton, £1 to £1 Is; mixed, 17s to 18s Cd per cwt; fat, lid per lb. Hair: Ilorso tail. Is to Is Id; cow, BJd per lb; tails, Is 3d to Is 9d per dozen. Bones, 5s per cwt. Horns: Wanted at an advance on late rates. Maize: Owing to very bad weather on the coast only a small quantity came to hand, which sold at 2s 5d per bushel for old and 2s 3d to 2s 4d for new on wharf. Oats have again advanced in the South, and cannot be supplied under 23 -3d per bushel c.i.f. in wholesale lines. Chaff is worth £2 17s 6d to £3 at rail, by the truck load. • •« Potatoes : The Southern market is very firm, and equal to £6 110s c.i.f., but as there are very heavy supplies here the ruling rate is about'£6 5s on wharf. HAWERA.""" - - • The Egmont Farmers' Union, Ltd., report: Hawera, July 13:— the Glover Road Yards, on the 18th instant, we had a heavy yarding of stock, mostly steers.' There was a good attendance of buyers, and bidding was spirited, resulting in every pen of stock (but two small lines), changing hands at the hammer or immediately afterwards. OPUNAKE AND MANAIA. Messrs. Nolan, Toriks,"and Co., report: Hawera, July 20:— Opunako on Tuesday'we had a very fair entry, most of the lines being disposed of under the hammer. At Manaia on the 17th quite the advertised number came forward. Bidding was brisk, and with one exception all lines were cleared. On the 19th inst. we held a clearing sale of dairy stock on account of Mr. Edwin Correy. The cows were all in good condition and a first-class lot,, realising from £5 to £10 10s; average. £7 83. We- quote:— Opunake-. Calves, 14s 6d; weanors, 23s to 30s; forward heifers, £4 to £4 4s; store cows; £3 103; twoyear steers, £4 6s. At Manaia: Weaners, 30s to 375; two-year heifers, £3 7s 6d; two-year Jersey heifers. £3 16s; store cows, £3 14s; fat cows, £4 7s to £5 23 6d; forward cows. £4 Is to £4 7s; cows and calves, £5 to £5 14s; heifers in calf, £4 5s to £4 10s; springers, £5 to £5 '6s; three-year bullocks, £5 ss; 18month steers, .£3 9s. . MASTERTON. Messrs. Lowes and lorns report at thsir Masterton stock sale on WednesdayEmtries in all classes were considerably in excess of advertised numbers. In fats only ewes offered, best quality selling well, but rough sorts neglected. In wethers we submitted upwards of 1000, placing over 600. Good forward class found a ready sale for turnip feeding, but those in poor condition failed to sell. In ewes in lamb 900 offered, 700 selling, including some good sound sorts, which sold readily; inferior and aged hard to- quit. Hoggets were only medium, and culls one lot unsold. In beef the quality was only fair, and rates accordingly. In stores some four pens of useful steers found a ready market at sound figures, as did young cattle and quiet heifers for dairying and good breeding heifers. Best fat ewes made lis 6d; forward wethers, 12s; other", lis; best ewes in lamb, 10s 3d to 10s; others, 9s, down to 6s 10(1 for poor class; crossbred wethers, 10s 6(1; store ewes. 7s 6d: fat lambs. 10s; cull lambs. 4s: href cow?. £4 15s; enrnty heifers of good quality, £3 17s M to £5; two-year steers, good, £4 4s to £4 10s; young steers. £3 lGs: springing hoifers, forward, £5 ss; small heifers, £2 10s.
