SPORTING.
It transpires that Auckland is to lose another of her crack racehorses. Mr. L. de Policliet, who acts as manager of Mr. Spenco>- Gollan's New Zealand estates, opened I up negotiations recently on behalf of that gentleman with Major G'corgo for the purchase of Seahorse, and the son of Nelson was placed under offer at 2000 guineas. ' Mr. da Polichet came up to Auckland from Napier by the s.s. Zealandia for the purpose i of inspecting the horse and completing the | purchase. Mr. E. D. Halstead, the well- > known veterinary surgeon, examined Sea- : horse, and that gentleman giving the necesj sary certificate the . sale was completed at I the figure stated. As a three-year-old Sea- | horse proved himself a really high-class colt, I ami should he regain the form he displayed I at that age he will no doubt repay Mr. Gollan for Ids heavy outlay. Seahorse is engaged in the New Zealand and Melbourne Cups, but as it is understood that ho fas been purchased with a view to being transported to England, he will in all probability be shipped to the Old Country at once.
