MR. WITHEFORD'S ADDRESS.
TO THE-EDITOR. Sir, —As I believo Mr. Seddon says that ho intends to bring in a Bill to increase the £.240 honorarium to £300, I trust Mr. Withe- . ford will bo explicit on the point, as to whether ho will support it, _or whether 'he will insist upon its being done decently and in order, according : to good old Liberal traditions, by. consulting . the electors about it. So far as my know- ' : ledge goes, the question of an increase in : Ministers' salaries, or in the honorarium was never mentioned during the election campaign, either by Mr. Soddon, or any othor V candidate, but a© soon as Mr. Seddon. gets v~.' into power by a, swingeing majority, thou forthwith ho advances his own screw, that* : of his Ministers, and those who support him. No number of titles, cocked hats,. Windsor uniform or capital letters after your name, can 'atone for tins flagrant breach of the main cuinon .of : Liberalism, i.hat is—put a thing fairly and squarely before the people, and. abicio bv their decision.—l am, etc. ' E. BELLHOUSE, Grey Lynn, .Tune 28, 1901.
