MASONIC.

The installation of Brother M, A. Going as W.M. of Lodge Beta, Waikato, No. 12, took place at Hamilton on Thursday evening. Brother M. McLean, Grand Superintendent, who represented Grand Lodge, and was accompanied by Brother M, Niccol, P.G.M., Grand Secretary and other Grand Lodge officers, conducted the ceremony. There was a large attendance of visitors and members!; over 20 P.M.'s composed the Board. The working tools were presented by W. J. Oldham, P.M., third degree; W. B. J. Primrose, P.M., second degree; W. B. A. Swarbrick, P.M., first degree. The W.M., who was addressed by Brother F. W. Browning, invosted Brother J. E. Hammond as S.W., and Brother J. S. Colli as J.W. They were addressed by M.W. Brother M. Niccol, P.G.M. The other officers were invested as follows: —D.M. Brother G. Edgecumbe, P.M. (re-elected) treasurer, W.B. C. J. W. Barton, P.M. secretary, W.B. It. J. Gwynne (re-elected); D. of C. Brother W. Dey (re-elected); organist, Brother G. F. E. Edgecumbe (re-elected); 5.1)., Brother P. E. Stevens; J.D., Brother E. Chappell; 1.G., Brother A. T. Smith; S.S. Brother John Knox; J.S. W. J. Conradi; tyler, G. G. Wilson (re-elected). Brother Niccol also addressed the brethren. A collection was made in aid of the widows and orphans' fund, and realised £2 17s. During the evening W. Brother J. Anderson, of Lodge To Aroha No. 52, was presented with his patent of office as grand steward. The installation was afterwards celebrated by the usual ball in tho Volunteer Hall. There was rather a smaller attendance than usual. The hall was very nicely decorated for the occasion. The supper was what is termed a "sit down one." The tables were beautifully spread and _ very tastefully decorated ; the work in this connection fell to the lot of tho ladio3. In the absence of Mrs. Going Mrs. G. Edgecumbe acted as hostess. The music was provided by the Hamilton Harmonic Society, and gave satisfaction to the dancers. The ball was a decided success from all points of view.
