GOVERNOR HOBSON'S GRAVE.
„. _. TO THE EDITOR. Wi £' »'co that my old friend, Mr. R. wruto, calls attention to the neglected state 01 the above, and his remarks are confirmed >> an editorial articl© in the- samo issue of "'0 HERALD. Anyone who hag road the th£ '^ to ?'- of New Zealand will know "hat difficulties our first Governor had to mil-end against, and how faithfully he onrriod His duties out in the face of it all, and it is a disgrace to the colony that his first restingplace should not bo kept in decent order. ■tie is the only Governor whoso remains are with us, and he has no relations in the colony, so surely the Government should look to it. _ I have every confidence that they would if their attention were directed to it in a proper manner. Some time ago I called the attention of the Government to the neglected state of the graves of the gallant men who fell fighting at Mauku, in October 1000, and my representation had immediate attention. The last resting-place of a worthy Governor of our colony should have the samo consideration, for 1 believe his end "was hastened by the worry and care of office in a very critical tunc- of colony-making.—-I am, ett :,' , H. Ullisi-E. JUauku.
