Mr. l>eiiliett, headmaster at K.arori, fluid under tho present system of paying teachers in the 'Wellington district anomalies and injustices oeoeutred. The salaiies paid lor the large Wellington schools under the alternative scale were more adequate than at present. lie considered there were too many pupil-teachers in this district, and there would not be employment tor those now being trained for litany years to come. lie did not had any general demand for equal salaries for men and women, and it that principle was put into operation the keener competition that would ensue must result in the breakdown of the women.
