WAR MEDALS PRESENTED BY THE KING.
A BRILLIANT PAGEANT. (Received Jnno 13. 10.25 p.m.) London, June 13. Beautiful weather favoured the brilliant pageant of the Horse Guards' parade. The King, accompanied by the Queen and Princess Victoria, presented 3000 war medals. The Duke of Cornwall's children sat adjacent to the window. Lord Roberts was the first recipient, then came Lord Milner. Sir Godfrey Lagden, of the Headquarters Staff, the Foreign Attaches, the Natal Staff, the generals of divisions, the Household Cavalry, the Guardsmen, many wounded and discharged soldiers in plain clothes, and finally the City Volunteers. The ex-Lord Mayor, the Lord Mayor, the sheriffs, and the Moorish envoys were provided with special seats to view the ceremony. (Received Juno 14, 12.5-f a.m.) London, June 13. The presentation of the medals was a lengthy ceremony, the Sovereign standing two hours. The King wore a field-marshal's uniform with the blue ribbon of the Garter.
