HUNTING.
The Pakuranga Hunt Club will formally open their season this afternoon, at Sylvia Park, tho estate of the master (Mr. J. G. Ralph). The gathering bids fair to be a success, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph have oxtended a cordial invitation to the members to partake of their hospitality, which has gained them so much popularity. At a meeting of the members, held during the week, at the office of the Auckland Racing Club, the advisability of altering rule 6 of the club to read, " That the season date from August 1 in the ono year to July 31 in the following year," was discussed. The object of this course would bo to enable hunters to qualify during the back end of the hunting season, so that they might bavo the opportunity of competing at the National meeting in June without having to qualify in so short a period as is allowed now. The secretary (Mr. R. P. Kinloch) was instructed to wr\te to the New Zealand Hunt Club Association, asking them to consider the matter as a recommendation of tho club.
Rule 16 was altered at the same meeting to read, "That horses running in Hunt Club races must be qualified by being fairly hunted five times during the season." Hitherto the qualification has been an attendance of seven times at the meet.
