PEOPLE OF KANSAS THANKED FOR THEIR " LOYALTY New York, March 17.-—Shortly after Queen Victoria's death the Kansas Legislature sent a message of condolence to King Edward. In his acknowledgment the King expressed thanks for " the loyalty and sympathy of the people of Kansas." The word " loyalty" aroused such Resentment among the'legislators that the message was ordered to be expunged from the State records. The Joint Committee of the Legislature, however, received a letter yesterday from Mr. Choate, the American Ambassador in London, expressing the King's regret for the unfortunate wording of the message. Mr. Choate explains that through an oversight a form of message employed for letters of acknowledgment to persons in the British dominions was used in the message to the Kansas Legislature. He adds : — " I have learned that the King was much pained when he learned of this blunder.'.!,_._
