Bank of New Zealands had sellers at 395, buyers offering 365. In Upper Thames mining lines Waihis had sale at £3 15s, late buyers affering £3 10s, sellers asking £9 ss. During the four weeks ending April 27, the Waihi Gold Mining Company (Limited) crushed and treated 12,576 tons of ore lor a vieid of bullion valued at £30,723. In addition, a parcel of concentrates, resulting from the month's operations, was shipped to Svdnev, valued at £1107. maKing the total" return for the foui weeks £31,830. This is the highest return obtained to date, the previous record being that of the March month, when 12,653 tons yielded £31.330. The total amount won from the mine to date, ba=ed upon the company's own official figures as published with their interim quarterly report, is £1.612,726. The details are as follows : —

Driving on the reef has been extended, and although the country is somewhat harder than usual, yet the quartz on the footwall portion is of remarkably good quality. A rise has also been put tip between' the intermediate and No. j levels. the reef averaging about 2ft. and showing gold very freely when breaking down. The reef has been traced and crosscutted through on the surface for 400 ft beyond the Cuirassier workings, gold having been obtained in most of the crosscuts, which shows that there is yet a large amount of development ■wro.-k to "proceed with before anything like the true value of the property can be estimated. Stoping has also been continued on Nos. 1 and 2 blocks, the quartz sloped' being of usual average value.
