The enemy's vanguard was expelled thence before daylight. The Boers imagining in the darkness that the British were numerous, retreated, leaving a strong fighting rearguard. ZEERUST BESIEGED. (Received May 3, 10.46 p.m.) London, May 3. The garrison at Zeerust, which is still being blockaded, on April 29 captured a supply of fresh meat. THE ATTACK AT PAARDEBURG. London, May 3. In the House of Commons, Mr. Brodrick, referring to General Colvile's recently-published despatch dealing with the attack on Cronje's laager at Paardeburg, said General Kenny-Kelly commanded on March 18 last year, the date mentioned by General Colvile, Lord Kitchener assisting General Kenny hi the control of the action.
