I PHOTOGRAPHIC PRIZE COMPETIi TION_ \ THE RESULTS. We have much pleasure in announcing the result of the Auckland Weekly News first prize competition. Although a large j number of entries were received in some i classes, in others there was Httle or 110 comj petition. In Class 8 (Sport in New ZeaI land) there was only one exhibit, and that j not of a true sporting character. For this j reason, and in view of the fact that the shoot- | ing season is approaching, it h:is been decided j to keep the competition in this class open i until June 30. In the third class (A New I Zealand Christmas Scene), nothing suitable I for publication has been received and con- ; sequently no award has beaji made. More j j entries were received in the Land and Seai scape Class than in any other, and the first ! j prize has been awarded to ill'. L. A. Eller- | • beck for an artistic study entitled " "he j ( Last of Her." The second prize is awarded i j to Mr. F. A. Hargreaves for a seascape, i j "Shipping Wool." This gentleman also | takes second prize in the tigure class for a i study of "A Maori Centenarian." Mr. G. j j Bourne takes a first and a second prize, i His tirst is in the figure class for a Maori ; | study, " I Should Smile," and the second j j prize in the industrial class for a timber | picture, "The Last Step."
