ANNUAL CHURCH METTINGS.
ST. MARK'S, TE AROIIA. The annual mooting of the parishioners of Sr. Mark Church. Te Aroha, was hold on Tuesday evening, the Rev. K. J MeFarland presiding. There was a good attendance, including several ladies. The recounts for three funds, general, enlargement and vicarage, were presented ami passed. The general fund amounted to £157 lis. of which Bum offertories were responsible for £123 33 3d. The enlargement fund. £161 2s 3d, included subscriptions £53 lis, and loan from "rust Board £11 0. The vicarage find i amounted to £105 5s Bd, the items being: j -Net proceeds of sale of work, £SG 8s 9d, ■ nnd other contributions, £24 16s lid. ANDREW'S, CAMBRIDGE. | Th? annual meeting of the parishioners j of St. Andrew's Church, Cambridge, was j held on Tuesday evening. Archdeacon Willis | presiding. The Chairman submitted his j annual report, which commenced with grate- , fill reference to the valuable services ren- | dered by Dr. Hooper and tho Revs. H. G. Blackburn© and J. Marshall during Archdeacon Willis' absence in the Old Country. Mention was made of the church improvements, tho beautiful reredos recently erected being described as forming a fitting memorial <£>f the thankfulness felt for the success of the . Empire's arms in South Africa. Tho attendance at Divine service throughout the year was good, end the finances were in a satisfactory state. The report mentioned tho irreparable loss which the parish had sustained by the death of Mr. E. Hewitt, and went on to say that St. Andrew's had never hitherto lost so whole-hearted a lover of the Church and worker in her service. A proposal was on foot to erect a new pulpit a* a memornl to Mr. Hewitt. The growth of settlement ic the district had made it a matter of necessity to consider at an early date how to make better provision for pastoral visitation, for. difficult as it had been for the vicar to overtake tho work in the past, it was now all but impossible, and the best course open seemed the appointment of an assistant. The average attendance was 114. Mr. Wells read the statement of Recounts for the year ending March 31, 1901, which showed a credit balance in the year's working (alter discharging all current liabilities) of £36 15s 6d, the balance in hand at the end of tho financial year being £46 7s Id. Tho report: and balance-sheet were adopted. A statement of accounts and report in regard to the Sunday-school were also read and adopted, hearty votes of thanks being passed to all those mentioned in the report. The vicar's stipend was fixed at £200 per annum, being an increase of £20. Archdeacon Willis intimated that he had appointed Mr. T. H. Hicks as vicar's church- , warden. Mr. Thos. Weils was reappointed ' parishioners' warden. The following gentle- } men were appointed as vestrymen: Messrs. , R. C. Dyer. ,T. C. Potts, C. Boyee, W. F. ' Buckland, K. Bouillon, .7. Adams, G. Dick- ' inson, C. Hunter, J. H. Edwards, and Dr. ! Roberts. Messrs. J. W. Merrick and H. G. : McCrae were re-elected auditors. The fob : lowing resolution, proposed by Mr. Wells, and seconded by .Mr. Hicks, was carried:— j " That this meeting testifies to the very great . loss which the Church has sustained by tho j death of Archdeacon Dudley, and that sincere sympathy and condolence be conveyed , to ti;o deceased's family."'
