RULES OF CRICKET.

By Telegraph.—Vro3s —Copyright. (Received May 3, 12.14 a.m.)

By Telegraph.— Association.— London, May 2. The well-known cricketers, Ha/wke, Lucas, Mason, Owen, Warner, and Jephson, have issued a manifesto, which declares that if the proposed leg-before rule is adopted it will encourage blind slogging and ruin club and local cricket. Grace says the alteration will benefit first-class cricket by lessening draws, but will harm club cricket where the umpiring is doubtful. (Received May 3, 12.14 a.m.) London, May 2. In the absence of a two-thirds majority, the Marylebone Cricket Club rejected the proposed amendment in regard to leg-before. Two hundred and fifty-nine supported the change and ISS opposed it.
