The report of the vestry showed that- there had been an increase of receipts all round : 'i except in the ease of the v endowment ) fund interest. The walks about the churchyard had teen re-formed, tarred, and sanded. Tim had been a heavy expenditure, so that there was at the end of the year, March 31 ■* a small balance duo to the treasurer. The s'uju raised for the country clergy and Home Mission. funds amounted to £.17 15s 9d. a little over the £16 promised. Attention was drawn in this report to the not inferior claims of our Maori brethren to our. sympathy and support. The attendance; at the: principal Sunday service, i.e.,. the morning, had not been as good as in former years. The same may bo said as regards the early Communion. The Young People's Union has commenced its eighth session; number of members. 20. Our young men are invited to join this union, which is, in fact, a mutual improvement association on church lines. The Sun-day-school prospers, and steps are being taken to renew the school . library. The Scripture class held on Friday morning* in fairly attended, as also the children's sinp. in;j class on Monday evenings. The Primate held a Confirmation last November, when four males and nine females were presenter). The obstacle in the way of these young people becoming regular communicants is 't,hY want of good example on the part of thei; parent?. The choir, under Mr. W. Matthews, is very efficient. It would be more so'if, our male members attended practice morsregularly. The report wis adopted by the meeting. The following officers were <an-? pointed, for the current year: —Minister's warden. Dr. Rowley; people's wai"den, Mr. E. Matthews; vestrymen, Messrs. S. Luke W. Matthews, J. Baker, C. Rowe, J. Toms* W. D. Bush, and L.. Sheppard; auditor Mr. H. J. Hall. Some discussion took place* connected with the part of the report referring to missions, resulting in the meeting agreeing to the following motion:—".That we promise to endeavour to raise during th» currest year £5 for each of the following funds, namely: Country clergy, Home Mission, native pastorate, and native- girls' school.
