Yesterday the auxiliary schooner Aotea left for Coast ports and Gisborne with a large general cargo. On Tuesday last the barque Alcestis sailed from Newcastle for Auckland with a cargo of coal. The Tyser liner Indraghiri left for Napier and .the South last night. Yesterday the barquentine River Hunter arrived at Kaipara from Sydney. The Northern Company's steamer Chelmsford arrived from Whangayoua yesterday. and leaves for the same place again to-night. The scow Leon Hautere, is lying at Shortland. Wharf awaiting a favourable wind to leave for Auckland. She carries 30,000 ft of timber for Leyland-O'Brien's mill. The Norwegian barque Dag. arrived at Suva on April 12. from Tuticorin. India, after a tedious passage, and proceeded to Levuka. the next day to load copra for Europe. On April 19, the Colonial Sugar Refining Company's steamer Fiona arrived at Suva, from Sydney. THE SIERRA. Messrs. Henderson and Maefarlano. the local agents, are in receipt of cable advices stating thai the mail steamer Sierra arrived at San Francisco from Auckland at 8 a.m. on Tuesday last, contract time. . THE WAIKAEE. The Union Company's steamer W'aikare left Sydney for Auckland last evening, and is duo on Monday morning next. THE TE ANAU. The Union Company's steamer Te Anau left Gisborne for Auckland at 10.30 a.m. yesterday, and should arrivo about 11 a.m. today. THE ISLAND STEAMERS. The departure of the Union Company's eteamei Flora for Fi;i lias been postponed until noon to-day. The Union Company's steamer Ovalau is duo from the Society and Cook Islands tomorrow. THE KUAKA. . The launch Kuaka, recently built for the Auckland Harbour Board, by Mr. ,E. Logan, sen., under contract to Messrs. W. A. Ryan and Co., and fitted with one of the Union Engine Company's oil engines, went out for a trial spin yesterday in the harbour, and acquitted herself remarkably well. The engines worked very satisfactorily, and a gocd rate of speed was attained. Tho official trial trip of the launch takes place to-morrow. THE SAMOA. The steamer Kingarooma, which was recently purchased from the Union Steamship Company, by Messrs. Soegner. Langguth, arid Co., of Auckland, for parties at Apia, has been placed under the German flag, and renamed "The Samoa." The steamer's port of registry is Hamburg, and she has been provided with a provisional certificate, under the seal of the German Consul at Auckland, .Sac left lor Apia yesterday afternoon, taking' a cargo of timber, etc. Whilst at Dunedin the hull was examined and found to be in first-class order. The machinery was overhauled, and on the trip up the coast worked satisfactorily, and daring her stay in Auckland was put in perfect order by ■ Messrs. Dunn, Smith, and Co, The passenger accommodation was also extensively altered in order to fit her for the Island traae, and the electric light was installed throughout the vessel. Captain D Spence i^ t0 of the Mapourika, is in command, with Mr. W. Walker, chief officer; Mr. Jones, chief engineer; and Mr. Rutledge, chief steward ■ For the present the steamer will be engaged in the trade between. Samoa and Honolulu, but it is understood that it is intended to connect with the German mail steamers at Horbertshohe, New Guinea, and Samoa. THE HAUROTO. The Union Company's steamer Hauroto, Captain W. J. Newton, arrived from Sydney and the Islands at 8 p.m. yesterday, with a, cargo of fruit, etc., and anchored in the stream to await inspection by Dr. Sharman, tho health officer, who will visit the steamer this morning. Mr. 8. S. Wilson, the purser, to whom we are indebted for our files, reports :—The Hauroto left Sydney at 10 p m on'the loth ult.. and arrived at Suva at 8 a.m. on the 18th. Left again at midnight on the 19th, and called at Levuka, Labasa Samoa, Vavau, Haapai, and Nukualofa leaving the latter port for Auckland at 4 p.m. on the 25th„ and arriving as above. Experienced heavy south-west weather from Sydney to Suva, thence fine weather until April 9, when heavy south-south-west winds, with moderate sea, were met with, and lasted • until the morning of the Ist tost; after that fine weather to arrival.
