CROWN LANDS BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Crown Lands Board was held at the Crown Lands Office yesterday, Mr. Gerhard Mueller, Commissioner, presiding. Thore were a.so present: Messrs. Thompson. Harris, Lundon, and Renshaw.
Motutara Reserve: The Hon. E. ."Mitchelson wrote asking permission to fence in a portion of the Motutars. reserve; Permission was granted. Road Deviation The Boa_*d approved the action of the Commissioner in authorising the expenditure of £10, third-', on road deviation in the Kokianga. County. • Forfeited Section: A letter was read from Mr. Joseph W. Keyes with reference.l 6 his forfeited section, 15, Block XIII., Rotoma, and the Board decided to inform the writs" th.at they saw no good reason for altering the decision arrived at with regard to forfeiture. Timber License: An application for the transfer of Mr. Davidson's timber, flotago license over the Waipa and Pohuenui Rivers to J. Smyth, was granted. Tiritiri Island i Sir. F. B. Bennett wrote applying for a long lease of Tiritiri Island, as he wished to make various improvements there. As the island will probably be required for Government purposes the Board decided to inform the applicant that an extension of lease could not be recommended.
Expenditure of Thirds: The Board approved schemes for the expenditure of thirds by the Kirikiriroa, Ivatikati, and To. Puna Road Boards. Posts and Telegraph Offices: It was decided to set apart sections 607, 608, 609, raid 610, town of Cambridge East, as a reservo for post and telegraph purposes. Recreation Reserve: The proposal to set apart section 2, Block IX., Whakatane. for a recreation reserve was approved, the reserve to be vested in the Whakatane County Council.
Lease of Lands: An application from M. McGregor for a- year-to-year lease of 500 acres on tho Omnara River, near Whitiauga Harbour, we# granted, the rental fixed being £5 per annum, payable half-yearly. ' Opening Land for Selection: Mr. A. C. Kingston applied for the opening up as imsurveyed land oil 835 acres in Block XII., Kerikeri. The application was granted, the rental being fixed at 7s 6d per acre. Reserves: It was decided to set apart section 112, parish, of AVaipareira, for a cemetery reserve, section 3 for a. public hall, and section 111 for a school site. °- - Purchase of Lards: An application on behalf of L. B. Even for permission to purchase under the squaring-iip clause 21 wires of land in the parish of Tamahere, at the upset price of £5 per acre, was granted. ■ Gum-bearing Land: It was decided to reserve sections 111- to 119, parish of To Kopuru, reported upon by the inspector as gumbearing lands. . ' Education Reserves: The Education Re-, serves Commissioners wrote ■ asking _tho' Board to sell certain sections in the village of ICaiwaka. It was decided to recommend the Minister for Lands to authorise the sale of the reserves at the upset, price of £5 per acre. ■ ■ , . ' ■ Opening up Lands: The • chairman announced that it was proposed to throw open 2500 acres in Whan gape and Mangamuka survey district, at 7s 6d per acre. The warden reported that there was no reason why section 4, Block 11., Hastings survey district should not be opened under clause 121 of the Land Act, at 5s rer acre, and it was decided to throw the land open. Show Ground: In accordance with a request from settlers of Broadwoocl, it was decided to reserve about 1?. acres next to village reserve. Blo.:k 11., Whangape. for the purpose of a show ground.
