SPEECH BY THE HON. C. H. MILLS.
[BY telegraph.— tress ASSOCIATION.] Picton, Tuesday. THE Hon. C. H. Mills addressed a large and appreciative gathering of his constituents in the Volunteer Shed this evening. lie strongly advocated the completion of tho Main Trunk lines in both islands, and for a fast ferry service across Cook Strait* ro Titahi Bay or Plimmerton. In connection wit:-, the opening up of trade with South Africa-, he was of opinion that thero should be a continuous service established with that country. It was to our interest to find new markets for our produce, and he felt sura the appointment of tho Trade Commissioner, just made, and his visiting other countries n the interests of commerce, would tend eventually to an increased export trade. He complimented the managing directors and oftiok'Ss of the Bank of Now Zealand upon the very satisfactory result of tho past year's transactions. The following resolution was owned unanimously: ''That this meeting 'hanks the Hon. C. H. Mills for his able and instructive address, and has great pleasure in expressing entire confidence in him as ihoir member, and in the Government, of wiv.oh the Right Hon. R. J. Seddon is Premier."
