■iA. picnic in connection with the- Sundayschool of tho Presbyterian Church was held on Easter Monday, in a paddock, belonging to Mr. Frank Lipecy, who kindly grantee tho use of it for tho purpose. In all competitive) sports the contests were keen, and, at tho close of the tournament Mrs. Carmiohael, who was tho mainspring of the whole movement, discharged the function of queen of the'sports; and distributed the prizes among tho successful competitors. Later on. prizes for good attendance and diligence at the Sun-day-school wero presented..
HAMILTON. The annual meeting of the parishioners of St. Peter's Church was held last evening in the schoolroom. The Rev. H. D..A. Major, the vicar, presided. There were about 20 parishioner.) present and several ladies. Tho report am. ualance-sheut, as printed, were read and adopted. The latter was as follows: Receipts: General ■offertory, £246 i 8s 4d; special. offertories— Mission, £8 4s 8d; country clergy fund, £5 2s; home mission, £3 17s 6d; donations, £16; Church Gazette, received on account, £3 7s; total, £232'193- 6d. Expenditure: Special offertories, £17 4s 2d; stipend, £200; repairs to parsonage; £9 9s; rates, £6 2a 6d; . interest, £1 2s 6d: synod expenses,' £1 ss; printing and advertising £10 10s; lighting, £8 12s 2d; verge:, £18: matting, £2 Is 3d; insurance, '£6 16? 6d; Church Gazette, £10 10s lOd; sundries, £13 6s 6d: total, £305 Cs sd. To briefly summarise the financial operations of the year, we began with an .overdraft of £45 i7s Bd, including a still unpresen.od cheque- of £15 17s Bd, leaving the actual overdraft at £30. This added to the amount, £22 Os lid over expended as above, leaves the overdraft now at £52 0s ii.il. The amount expended over the receipts is morn than made up by the payment of old liabilities. The vicar appointed Mr. Isaac Ooates his warden, and Mr. P. E. , Stevens was unanimously elected people's warden. It was decided that the vestry should consist of nine members. After ballot, the following were elected: Messrs. Sare, Birnie, Gwynno, Edgecumbe, Atkinson, Salmon, Sandes, Swarbrick and Dyer. The vicar said it was usual to pass votes of thanks to all who lied exerted themselves in the interest of the church. He did not propose to do this. He felt sure that the appreciation of their services by their fellow churchmen would bo more gratifying to them than any number of votes of thanks. At a meeting of the vestry held subsequently Mr. G. Edgecumbe was elected secretary and Mr. P. E. Stevens treasurer.
