THE MANAGER AND MATRON OF THE COSTLEY HOME.
TO THE EDITOR. Without expressing any opinion as to the course pursued by the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, or as to the justice or: the grounds of the charges made against the manager and matron, may I be allowed to bear one word of testimony to their kindness end good-heartcdness. J have known Mr. and Mrs. Moss ever since their appointment, first at the old refuge and then at the Oostley Home, in connection with the Sunday services and occasional concerts and" entertainments, and it is only meat and right to say they have heartily co-operated, especially in the musical portion of the services. Whilst unable to speak of the management from personal knowledge, I believe Mr. and Mrs. Moss have strenuously endeavoured to do their duty.— am, etc., Edwin Cox. April 8, 1901.
TO THE EDITOR. xi Sir,—"Will you kindly allow an inmate of tho above home to write a few words on the present embroglio connected with the institution? There has been some serious mistake . made through the late inquiry being a private one and not a public one. It strikes mo that the attack on Mr. Moss has been solely brought about by personal animosity the party or parties concerned in the charges being afraid to disclose their personal identity, should a public inquiry take place. I don't think it quite fair to Mr. Moss that. charges should be made against him in camera; but that.< an opportunity should be given him to meet his detractors face to face, and give . him an opportunity to refute the charges brought against him by holding a public inquiry. I have been an inmate of the Costloy Homo for some time, and I haven't the slightest doubt in my own mind that a public inquiry would throw a different complexion- on the matter than what holds now.—l am, etc., Inmate of the Gostxey Home.
