ENTERTAINMENTS AND MEETINGS.

H.A.C.B.S. CONCERT.

The Opera House was crowded in every part last night, when the H.A.C.B. Society gave a national concert to mark St. Patrick's Day. There was no doubt about the manner in which the audience enjoyed the programme, as almost every item was encored. Among those present, were His Lordship Bishop Lenihan and several of the clergy. Miss Lily Thomson gave " Dear Little Shamrock" and "The Meeting of the Waters;" Miss M. Knight, "The Irish Emigrant;" Miss Pas De Leon, "Dublin Bay;" Miss Lena Conway, " Kiliarncy" and "0 Erin, My Country;" the Rev. Dr. Egan, "There never was a Coward where the Shamrock Grgws" and " The Wearing of the Green" (new version); Mr. Wm. Harkins, " Believe Me if all those Endearing Young Charms" and "Molly Bawn;" Mr. Arthur Dobbs, "Come Back to Erin" and "Killarney so Fair." Miss B. Barry, a very small danseuse, contributed an Irish jig and a pas de seul, which were both decidedly popular. Mr. -Alf. Marriage's orchestra contributed three selections. Messrs. M. J. Sheahan and Jas. R. B. Stead, the secretaries, with the assistance of several of the other officials of the society,, carried out the arrangements. / '""■■'■■ ■ DIX'S GAIETY COMPANY. Another very largo audience witnessed the performance at the City Hall last night, the all-round excellence of the programme being thoroughly appreciated. To-night the Leslie Brothers will be tendered a complimentary benefit by Mr. Dix. The popularity of these clever performers should ensure a crowded house. Mr. Harry Fawcett, well known in local bicycle circles, will sing "The Pale Moonlight" for this occasion only, and Miss Ivy Scott, the dashing young comedienne, who was an established favourite when in Auckland about three months ago, will make her reappearance. To-mor-row night Mr. Wallace King, the famous tenor, and Messrs. Harry Elliott, Jim Marion and Los Wharton, comedians and endmen, will make their first appearance.
