The present issue of the Auckland Weekw News is a most varied and attractive number, containing illustrations of all the lead-, ing current events and depicting-pictorially' the important functions in which so many thousands of people took part during hurt |*eek. The Auckland Regatta provides' large number of delightful pictures, the 1 photographer reproducing some of the important races with vivid reality. Nearly all the leading yachts, boats, and sailing vessels are given, so that the number may serve to illustrate a good portion of Auckland* sailing fleet, or at any rate to show representative types of the same. ?v :: ilt- ' The Pukekohe show is admirably illustrated, and gives an excellent idea of what an 'Auckland provincial show is like, bcth as regards agricultural produce and stock. _ , The monster Premier picnic, when this• Auckland Oddfellows and their friends, to the number of about 6000, 'went to beautiful Motutapu, is a fine example of those pleas; • ant water excursions for which Auckland's so famous, and of those lovely seaside resorts which Auckland possesses in unrivalled plenty. Auckland's Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club's carnival, on the beautiful Domain, is depicted through the only photographs obtained of that event. 4 ".

The visit of Auckland horticulturists to, the Government experimental vineyard, at Wairangi, the Nelson and West Coast sections of the Seventh New Zealand Contin-'', gent, make interesting pictures, which appeal directly to a wide audience. Among the miscellaneous illustrations are several which show the last imposing ceremonies connected with the death of Queen Victoria. A fine half-page picture shows the final scene at Osborne, where the great Queen lies Veher death-bed, surrounded by her children ' , and grandchildren— touching picture of that beautiful home sentiment which the Queen did so much to elevate. Another half-page picture represents the bier of Her, late, Majesty, sentinelled by Grenadier, Guardsmen; and still another scene shows . the mourning for the Queen in far-away ... ; Samoa. "".
