AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET. The market was rather more active yesterday. In investment lines, Auckland Gas (old) changed hands at £13 12s 6d, the new issue selling at £10 15s. Northern Steamship (contributing) were done at 7s 6d, more being wanted at same price, without sellers. Devonport Steam Ferrys had sale at £1 16s, late sellers asking £1 17s. In mining lines New,Whaus sold at 2d, and Welcome Jacks (contributing) at 6d. Kauri Freeholds were offered at 2s 6d. In Upper Thames lines Komata Reefs had sale at 3s Id. Waihi Extendeds again eased with sales at 3s, 2s lid, 2s lOd, and 2s 9d, sellers closing at 2s lid, buyers 2s 9d. For Chelmsfords 2s 6d was offered, sellers 3s. Talisman Consolidateds firmed at £1 5s 6d, with buyers at £1 4s. Waihis had buyers at £10 ss, sellers firm at £11. Woodstocks were weaker, sellers quoting at 7s, without buyers. Barrier Reefs were done at 6s, more being wanted at that price, sellers 6s 6d. In other lines late prices ruled. The Stock Exchange will be closed to-morrow for the observance of St. Patrick's Day. WAIOTAHI G.M. CO. The Waiotahi Gold Mining Company have declared another dividend (the 57th) of Is per share, payable to-day. CHELMSFORD G.M. CO. The Chelmsford Gold Mining Company's operations in connection with the erection of their new battery at Upper Tairua aie in a forward state. The water-race has- reached the steam, from which it is expected that sufficient viViter will be obtained for present requirements. The water was turned in to the race on Wednesday, and the pipes connecting the Pelton wheel tested. Most of the excavations for the assay- offices, hoppers, and tramways ' are completed. Ihe brake-wheel for ground tramway, the tramline to the mine, and the passes and hoppers will be in readiness to-day or to-mor-row. The last of the vats was finished en Tuesday last, as well as the driving pulley for the cam shaft. There yet remains to be completed the filter-bottoms to vats, pipe connections for cyanide solutions »nd water, pump connections, assaying and goldextracting buildings, and the placing in position of the ore-crusher. In the mine a small quantity of ore has been broken down in the lowest (No. 2) level, whilst making room for timbering. This ore showed gold freely by pounding and panning. COROMANDEL WARDEN'S COURT. [by telegraph.— correspondent.] Coromandel, Thursday. At the Coromandel Warden's Court, before Mr. R. S. Rush, the following business was transacted : Michael Manning was granted a residence site in Upper Coromandel ; W. Livingston was granted the surrender of residence site No. 2505. The Harbour View Company was granted six months' protection ; Queen of the North Company was granted six months' protection ; C. M. McFarlane was granted six months' protection for the Hauraki South special quartz claim; permission was given to work the New Four-in-Hand, Cuirassier, and Tainui, with six men each Wm. Oaulson was granted the Forest Queen's quartz claim. The Kapanga Company was granted six months' protection; A. Tempest was granted the Ocean View Extended special quartz claim William Hunter was granted the Bay View special quartz claim. J. Empen v. Juno Gold Mining Company: This was a plaint for forfeiture of the Juno claim at Kuaotunu. Mr. Rhodes appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. Cruickshank for the defendant, who was fined 40s and costs. Parker v. Preece's Point Proprietary : This was an action for the recovery of £17 wages. Judgment for the full amount and costs. • THAMES SHAREMARKET. Thames, Thursday.
