GREY LYNN BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Grey Lynn Borough Council was held last evening. Present: Messrs. R. T. Warnock (the Mayor), J. Farrell, S. C. Browin, W. Donald, J. Rosser, A. Parker, W. Pries ttfly, S. J. Ambury, and F. Booth. Condolence: On SiV. Donald's motion, it was decided to forwaml a letter of sympathy to Mr. Smith in his sa4'. bereavement through the death of his wifiv Leave of absence was also granted. Foreman of Works' Report: The report stated that the whole of the tarring and sanding of the footpaths in the Sussex Ward had been completed; that several houses, had been drained into 1 he main gully, and portion of the footpath in Great North Road had been repaired, and! the channel from Pollen-street to Ponsonby Road cleaned out. The report was adopted. Correspondence: Mr. 'C. B. King, hon. secretary of the Grey Lyi m Ratepayers' Association, wrote forward a resolution passed by his association, that the Council bo urged in letting the contract for the nightsoil pan system, to insert t.i clause providing for the washing of pans to be done outside the borough, as an intolerable nuisance exists at the present dopoit. The Mayor said that ho had visited the depot with Dr. Mason, who expressed his) satisfaction on leaving at the state of the -place. Mr. Ambury said that the request wi'th reference to washing of the pans outsikl e the borough should be attended to. The* matter was left in the hands of the Legal Co tnmittee. Several ratepayers forwarded a petition that tho footpath be tarred and sanded im Sussex-street, between Rose and Murdoch Roads. Referred to the Streets Commit* oe, with power to act. The Mayor referred -,to the progress mado by tho workmen in tarribig and sanding the streets, and said tho work was very satisfactory. Notice of Motion: The Mayor moved, ''That a special meeting be heM on the 25th inst., at a-quarter past seven jr.m., in order to adopt a resolution passing a special rale of 4d in the £, payable in one sum." Water Supply: The Richmond Ward members recommended the Council i o obtain the necessary plans and specifications for a water supply for the Richmond Ward, in older that they might bo placed before the ratepayers, prior to taking a poll in 1 ; the matter. Flagstaff: It was resolved to erect a flcgstaff on the tower of the Councul buildings at a cost of £5. ,
