TEACHERS SALARIES.
ANOTHER ROYAL COMMISSION.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Saturlay. The question of the teachers' salaries and the relative Departmental questions connected therewith, appear to make another Royal Commission necessary to decide the issues that are involved as to the position of education boards in the existing scheme of education. The proposed Commission is to consist of five members. The boards of education, the teachers, the school committees, the Government, and the Legislature will each have a representative on the Commission.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Saturday. At a largely-attended meeting of school teachers of North Canterbury educational district, after a lengthy discussion, the following . motion was carried:—"That pending the introduction of a colonial scale this meeting of Teachers approves of the action of the Government in voting money for the increase of teachers' salaries, and respectfully request the Department to leave the allocation of the grant in the hands of the boards for distribution."
