AN UNRIVALLED PUBLICATION. The present issue of the Auckland Weekly News is such a unique and attractive "number that no New Zealander should miss buying one. It shows nearly every feature of that magnificent sight—the reception of the Imperial troops in Auckland. Auckland was the only place in New Zealand where the British soldiers marched with the troops from India, and for this alone, showing as it does the wide variety of the Empire's defenders, the reception ceremony in Auckland was remarkable; but apart from this, the city lends itself so well to spectacular shows; the weather was so delightful; the immense crowds of people so enthusiastic, that no series of pictures taken in other cities are likely to make such good souvenirs of the great event as those taken for the Weekly Nkws. Life Guards and Highlanders, famous old regiments, and newly-formed colonial corps, gorgeous Indian officers and khaki-clad city riflemen, are shown marching through the beautiful city, and one sees, as it were, in a panorama of views, the wonderfully varied, wonderfully interesting representations of the Empire's military forces. If the procession of Imperial and colonial troops through the greatest and most picturesque city in New Zealand was attractive, the reception of Britain's military on the Auckland Domain was still more so, and the illustrations of the Weekly News show all the striking features of that splendid gathering. The immense crowd of nearly 40,000 some say nearer 60,000 people in the beautiful Domain, the military sports, three large pictures, containing sketches of the troops by the Weekly News special artist, and photographic reproductions of the Hon. R. J. Seddon and Colonel Wyndham, taken under most interesting conditions.
Other, illustrations show the Imperial troops on parade at Wanganut, Wellington, Masterton, so that the Weekly News may be said to give nob only the reception in Auckland, but. the progress of the Imperials through the. North Island of New Zealand.
No other paper is likely to contain such splendid illustrations of the Indian Contingent. They are shown by special flashlight photo, at the Auckland Opera House; they are shown on the summit of Mount Eden, taking their first comprehensive view of a New Zealand city, and they are shown cruising on the Auckland Harbour, picnicking at Takapuna, and there is also given a series of types from special portraits taken for the News.
Accompanying the numerous illustrations is a graphically written and thoroughly complete account of the doings of the Imperial troops in Auckland, and there need be no hesitation in saying that illustrations and letterpress together form the most interesting and realistic souvenir of this great event that is likely to be produced. The event was historical., and made the most wonderful spectacle ever witnessed in New Zealand, and the manner in which it is recorded in the Weekly News, both j>ictorially and by the descriptive writer, is worthy of the event. The present issue of the News is a special number worthy of being preserved ; unrivalled for sending Home tc show friends in the old lands how heartily we greeted the soldiers of the King. It is now on sale by all agents and runners.
